Frequently Asked Questions

When do I need to order my lei?

As early as possible is always best. A month before your commencement ceremony date is ideal. The last chance to order will be two weeks before the commencement ceremony. If you are less than two weeks from your commencement date then please send us a message first to see if a last-minute order will be received in time. Not all last-minute orders will be able to be accommodated unfortunately.

When do we give the lei to our graduate?

Before or after the ceremony are both common practices. The timing is determined by your school. Some schools allow students to wear leis during the ceremony in which case they can be presented beforehand. Some schools request that leis be given to the graduates after the ceremony has finished.

What is the best way to care for a lei?

If you receive your lei prior to commencement day then it is recommended to mist your lei with water from a spray bottle. If you do not have a spray bottle then flick water droplets from your hand onto the lei. Next, put your lei into a plastic grocery bag and tie it. The final step is to keep the lei cool in your refrigerator. The ideal temperature for a lei is 50-55 degrees. Most home refrigerators are set around 40 degrees or lower. Therefore, the best spot to place your lei is either in the door or produce drawer of your refrigerator. Avoid placing the lei in the back of the refrigerator as this is the coldest area and could freeze and harm your lei.

If you receive the lei on commencement day then just handle gently and keep the lei out of the sun until you present it to your graduate. Carrying it in a plastic grocery bag can help to ensure it is handled gently.

How will I receive my order?

All lei orders placed for students from the same school will be delivered together to the school or participating group. A coordinated pickup time will be communicated by your school or group.

When will I receive my order?

Leis need to be made fresh and as close to the ceremony date as possible. Therefore, leis will be delivered in a group to your school or participating group one or two days prior to the commencement ceremony. Your school or group will communicate exact pickup details.

Why is a delivery address required at checkout if the leis will be delivered in a group shipment to the school?

The website host, Shopify, requires a delivery address as part of its fraud prevention procedures.
